Personal-injury law firm actually makes a decent TV commercial

Posted on Mon Jan 11 2010

When I think of ads for law firms that handle personal-injury cases, an image of a person in a cast or a wheelchair comes to mind, followed by an attorney's 10-second pitch. After a while, these ads all blend together, and it's hard to recall the name of any specific firm. So, no wonder New York-based law firm Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman wanted to take a different approach by launching a series of spots that put a humorous twist on personal-injury cases. The campaign, via ad agency Levinson Tractenberg Group, explores the emotional effect accidents can have on people. This spot, for example, opens with a woman sharing her "accident" story while a dramatic piano tune plays in the background. "It's like I had this huge, really sharp machete chopping down on me every time I tried to move," she says. You start feeling sorry for her—until she reveals the pain was caused by a paper cut. The voiceover points viewers to Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman and says: "If you've been injured, call us. ... But keep in mind, you need to really be injured." I'm still chuckling at the scene where the woman points her bandaged finger at the camera.

Taco Bell is finally forced to pay up for stealing the Chihuahua

Chihuahua

Let's hope Taco Bell sold a trainload of chalupas, because it's going to need the money to pay for the lawsuit it just lost.
A federal appeals court has ruled that the taco chain must pay $42 million to Thomas Renks and Joseph Shields. The creators of the Taco Bell Chihuahua will finally see their payday, originally ordered by a court way back in 2003, after they had their idea lifted by the fast feeder.
The campaign, which was a fixture of the '90s TV advertising landscape, had us all saying, "Yo quiero Taco Bell." Today, the executives left to pay for the sins of marketing folks who are long gone might be saying, "Dios mio!"
