No, actually I don't hate Apple. I've just had it with Justin Long.

Did some light reading this weekend. Specifically, I was reading the comments section on a recent Brandweek article that claims Apple's competitors are finally starting to get it together. It also has a few folks chiming in about how Apple's "Get a Mac" commercials are beginning to rub some people the wrong way. I also read a blistering e-mail from a friend, an enthusiastic Apple loyalist, who absolutely despised the article and accused me of hating Apple for defending it. Personally, I think Apple is an amazing company. Its fan base is nearly unrivaled. With good reason, the iPhone and iPod introduced America to smartphones and MP3 players, respectively. That's pretty great. I also owned one of the very first Macs and have worked on one most of my career. At home, however, I've always used a PC. Why? Because it's cheaper, plus up until recently, a lot of programmers didn't program for Apple, which was an annoyance. And on top of it all, I don't do much in the way of artwork and graphic layouts in my personal life, so why would I pay more for an Apple? Because the smug Apple guy in the commercial tells us that PC users are dorks? Am I the only who wants to punch that guy in the face? I mean, seriously, the pick-on-the-nerdy-guy campaign has gone on way too long, especially now that Windows 7 has gotten great reviews. So, I realized that it isn't Apple that I hate. Quite the contrary: Aside from Bill Gates, Steve Jobs is the master innovator of our time. I hate Justin Long. In fact, the entire time I was watching the movie Drag Me to Hell, I was hoping the demons would drag Long to hell. Oh well, one can always hope for a sequel.
