Showtime picks a fitting day to launch latest 'Weeds' campaign

Weeds

While some people celebrated National Weed Day on Monday by contemplating their navels, the people in the PR department at Showtime had no time to toke. For them, "4/20" was D-Day to promote the new season of Weeds. The network yesterday released this teaser poster featuring suburban pot dealer Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) along with the line, "The hemptress returns." Boasting a marijuana-green satin bodice and a sly smile, the character is pinned to a weed-emblazoned spider web. The poster promotes the fifth season of Weeds, which premieres June 8. Previous posters in the campaign have featured Parker posing as a pin-up girl, as Eve, in a field of flowers and in a den strewn with pot plants.
