Apple sleuths cry foul after closer look at Microsoft's 'Lauren' ad
Posted on Wed Apr 8 2009Apple fans are giving Microsoft's "Lauren" ad the Zapruder treatment, picking the 30-second spot apart for proof of an anti-Mac conspiracy. Which brings us to the video shown here. Whoever created it makes a decent case that Lauren, in addition to being a covert actress, in fact never entered the Apple Store at all. The proof? When she's shown going in, there's reflection in one of the windows of a guy in a denim shirt walking toward the store. When she leaves, the same guy is just about to enter the store, meaning Lauren evidently pivoted—perhaps repelled, force-field style—from the entrance. She didn't even check out the Macs! The guy, who has black hair and a white shirt spilling out from under the jacket, is clearly the same guy, but couldn't he have lingered for a while himself before checking out Apple's pricey merch? Nothing left to do now but spend all night analyzing the video. Back and to the left ... back and to the left ...
