McDonald's singing wall-mounted fish is going over swimmingly

PETA won't be amused, but viewers across the country are apparently getting a kick out of the singing wall-mounted fish in this McDonald's commercial promoting the chain's Filet-O-Fish sandwich. Why? Maybe it's the tune, which is quite catchy in an annoying way. (Can't wait for the dance remix.) Maybe it's the guy's nonplussed expression and his friend's sitcom-ish double take. But I like to think the key to this ad is the absurdity of a dead fish asking a human to "give back" his sandwich by reasoning, "What if it were you hanging up on this wall? If it were you in that sandwich you wouldn't be laughing at all." Good point. And a good deal funnier than Al Franken's talking-fish ad in the Minnesota senate campaign.
