You just can't keep a creatively dreadful movie franchise down

Question: Just how valuable is a successful film franchise? Answer: So money-minting that there could be yet another Indiana Jones movie on the way, even though last summer's Kingdom of the Crystal Skull spawned the term "nuke the fridge" to describe sequel suckage.
And today we learn that another profitable but quality-challenged franchise is about to be reborn, though with a new studio, a new creative team and new stars. (Sorry, Angelina.) Warner Bros., which now has the film rights to the video-game-based Tomb Raider, and producer Dan Lin (the upcoming Terminator Salvation and Sherlock Holmes) have just started working on the project. It will reportedly be a wholesale reimagining of the impossibly beautiful archaeologist Lara Croft and her globetrotting, crime-fighting adventures.
The two Tomb Raider movies, from Paramount Pictures, grossed a total of more than $430 million worldwide and made Jolie one of the few female action heroes in Hollywood. Will the reboot do the same for another actress ready to don the spandex? Let's just hope it starts with a decent story.
